PWC Embedded Image Viewer
The links in the following table point to GIF, PNG, and PWC versions of a web page containing the 15 images described in the 1998 DCC paper "Context Models for Palette Images". The more recent versions of both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator support both the Graphic Interchange Format (GIF) and Portable Network Graphic (PNG) image formats natively. The PWC version of the page will only work properly is the PWC Embedded Image Viewer (available elsewhere on this site) is installed.
The PWC Embedded Image Viewer supports most of the user interface and programatic features available to native GIF and PNG images. These include client and server side image maps, borders, transparency, anchor colors, preview and error glyphs, and dynamic resizing. Due to various limitations, not all of these features are available in all browser environments. More detailed case studies of the various plugin features are available upon request.
